      The molecular structure of 3, 6-bis (diphenylphosphino)hexahydrofuro [2,3-b] furan(DPPFF)determined by X-ray diffraction analysis shows that this chiral bidentate ligand can hardly chelate a metal atom or ion. DPPFF has been used to react with[Rh(cod ) Cl]_2 forming a catalyst system for asymmetric hydroformylation of styrene. Experimental results demonstrate that this chiral catalysthasa veryhighregioselectivity(b/n=10.2) andamoderateenantioselectivity (ee=47.8%).Effects of reaction conditions on regio- and enantioselectivity have been examined.
